T-DRILL Oy, part of Leinolat Group, has been awarded Great Place to Work Certification™. The globally recognized certification, granted based on an employee survey, is the most well-known acknowledgment of an outstanding employee experience. For an industrial company, achieving this certification on the first attempt is an exceptional accomplishment.
The employee survey, which serves as the basis for the Great Place to Work Certification™, was conducted among T-DRILL’s Finnish employees in early 2025. The survey responses especially emphasized a welcoming environment for new employees, the excellent atmosphere across the entire company, and the strong trust employees have in company leadership. 87 % of employees feel that T-DRILL is, as a whole, an outstanding place to work. In comparison, the figure for a typical Finnish company is 38 %. (Source: Finnish Working Life Barometer 2022 & Great Place to Work Trust Index employee survey 2021–2022.)
“At T-DRILL, we invest in our personnel, and it is recognized at all levels of leadership that our employees are our most valuable asset. It feels fantastic to see tangible proof that our long-term efforts are paying off and that, together as an entire organization, we have successfully built such an outstanding workplace”, says HR Manager Rami Marttunen.
According to Marttunen, applying for the certification was part of T-DRILL’s HR strategy. The aim was to assess T-DRILL’s standing as an employer on a national level and to gain additional tools for further development of the company’s HR practices.
T-DRILL Hires People Who Align with the Company Culture and Values
Both Marttunen and Managing Director Jouni Matikainen emphasize that while T-DRILL offers its employees various benefits, such as Epassi benefits, health insurance, and sports opportunities, a positive employee experience is about the overall work environment.
“We have succeeded in recruiting like-minded individuals who fit well with our company culture and values. At T-DRILL, colleagues help each other in every situation, supervisors listen to employees, and new team members are warmly welcomed”, Marttunen and Matikainen explain.
Matikainen believes that the company’s values and their integration into daily operations also contributed to the strong survey results. The efforts to make these values visible have been strongly driven by Leinolat Group and T-DRILL’s Chairman of the Board, Lars-Erik Schöring.
“In recent years, we have prominently embedded our values – trust, teamwork, and transparency – into our strategy, staff briefings, performance reviews, and leadership practices. I believe this strengthens our sense of belonging and reinforces the idea that we are all driven by common goals.”
Recent Development Highly Valued Among Employees
Although employee well-being has long been a core value at T-DRILL, systematic efforts in recruitment and HR management have been a key focus over the past five years. According to Jukka-Pekka Paukkunen, Mechanical Designer and employee representative for senior staff, these developments are widely appreciated among employees.
“In my opinion, the Great Place to Work Certification™ indicates that T-DRILL has done the right things on many levels – especially considering that maintaining attractiveness as an employer is inherently more challenging for a company based in a smaller town. T-DRILL is a great place to work, and I’m not at all surprised that we received this recognition.”
A Positive Employee Experience is a Shared Achievement
The Great Place to Work Certification™ is valid for one year. The plan is to conduct the employee survey annually, expanding the next round to include T-DRILL’s U.S. subsidiary.
“We want to thank our employees both for their active participation in the survey and for the excellent results. A positive employee experience is the result of our collective efforts and a shared achievement. We are committed to continuously developing our HR practices and maintaining our strong team spirit so that T-DRILL remains a great place to work for our employees”, Matikainen concludes.
