T-DRILL SOLUTIONS REDUCE WELDING IN KOFAMA’S PIPE FABRICATION BY UP TO 80%

KOFAMA Koźle S.A., part of the Polish Zarmen Group, manufactures specialized machines and equipment for various industrial sectors. The company recently implemented a new production line aimed at reducing the amount of welding in its pipe fabrication process. With T-DRILL collaring and flanging machines, the new line cuts welding by up to 80%, resulting in significant cost savings, improved production efficiency, and a 75% shorter investment realization time.
KOFAMA’s new production line includes a T-DRILL F-420e HOT flanging machine and a TEC-220 collaring machine – equipped with a 12-meter Automatic Positioning System (APS) – as well as machines for pipe bending and orbital welding. On this line, KOFAMA manufactures prefabricated pipe spools for projects across multiple sectors, including the food, energy, and cement industries. The spools are fabricated to the greatest possible extent before delivery and are designed to transport a variety of substances, such as water, gases, foams, and petrochemicals. The primary goal of the new line was to significantly reduce the amount of welding required in the production process.

With the new production line, KOFAMA has cut the amount of welding in its pipe fabrication process by approximately 50% – and in some projects, by as much as 80%. The company estimates an investment realization time of about one year, which is 75% shorter than the typical timeframe for a similar-scale investment.

Before implementing the new production line, KOFAMA purchased straight pipes, elbows, and tees separately, assembling them manually. Now, not only is there no longer a need to source multiple components, the entire process has become significantly more streamlined. Using pre-purchased fittings was less flexible and required substantial manual effort and on-site adjustments during both prefabrication and installation. With projects like a recent one involving more than 20 kilometers of piping, the improved process delivers significant savings in both time and cost.
